I need a box!

Does anyone have a box or shipping crate designed to ship a -9 left fuel tank? Failing that, what are the best practices for creating such a container?

I’ve made a few sets of boxes for tanks, start with the extra large moving boxes from Home Depot and some packing tape and build your own. Make some long folded cardboard triangles to fill the spaces for the airfoil shape, pool noodles for the rest.

I would consider making a crate. The level of brutality i have seen from shipping personnel would lead me away from cardboard. You are going to get brutally creamed on cost due to size and therefore doubt the extra 20 lbs will make a difference in cost.

Flush the tank WELL, several times with water to avoid ANY flammable fumes. Possibly build a light weight but sturdy frame with cardboard inside, use expandable foam several inches thick to protect. Consider going to an appliance store for a recently abandoned refrigerator or something else big box as a starter.

When I need to make a crate, I grab a few lightweight pallets from our local Tractor Supply. They will tell you which ones are available as some are needed to be returned to their suppliers for credit.
I use deck screws and -voila-done.

Same as a propeller crate. Last time I used 1/4” plywood, 1x2 strapping, & 2 garbage bags with expanding foam shot inside to stabilize prop at each end.
Was still heavy, but safe.
