I have big feet and have an issue with the wingwalk

My 2103 RV-12 has wingwalk material that is just barely enouth for my big clod-hoppers. I was told the double goes back to the spar so in theory, the wingwalk material could extrend all the way to the spar. Is this correct?

Maximum to the spar is correct (see page 17-04 step 4).1732201186703.png

I have a 2015 and my paint protection is from the leading edge to the spar. This material from Amazon is 1/2 the price of anywhere else and is equal or better in all aspects. It is rubberized not sand, I also use it on my steps.

Selfishly off-topic because I like KFFA photos.

Thanks to MS19087 Mark Santoleri for building RV-14A N94MS.

I love the RV-12 also.

I have found the best wing walk material over the years to be skate board grip. It stays on, really grips your shoes and is inexpensive at the skate board shops.

Dick showed me how he gets in his RV-12 and never uses the wing walk. Grab the side rail with both hands. Step on the step with your forward foot and Stand up. Swing your other leg directly in and plant it on the floor. Stand up and bring your trailing leg in and plant your foot on the floor. Now just sit down. Easy as pie. Reverse the procedure for getting out. No wing walk needed. Been doing that for 9 years. Works perfect. If you search around, he made a video of it. Tom

Thank you. I’ll look for the video
