Okay, I've inventoried my empennage kit and am laying out the vertical stabilizer parts, reading the plans, trying to make sure I at least understand where things go and when. I have an extra part that two sets of eyes confirm is not called out for in section 6 of the plans. VS-1016. Are we blind in thinking this part is not called for yet?

I had the same issue with that part and had to look forward into the plans to find when it would be used.

Additionally, Vans will send some longer items specific for a later step to save on shipping (not in this case of course)

If you get a copy of the builder's manual as pdf files, you can do a search of the pdf for the part number to quickly find it in the plans. I've often found that to be very helpful, even now that my RV-10 is finished I sometimes use it to find the section where a particular part of the build is covered.
