How much does a RV10 QB Fuselage weigh uncrated?

I need to hand carry my QB fuselage from the driveway, around the house, and into my basement. I've been told that 3 people should be able to manage that but I'd like to have an idea fo how much weight we're talking about (Uncrated). Anybody have any idea? All I can find is crated weight and I'm sure that the crate is probably the heaviest part.

I don’t know the weight by my neighbor and I successful move mine with just the two of us. A third would have been nice but two was doable. That said we only had to move 40 ft and it was in a straight line with no obstacles. Good luck.

We just lifted my fuse/tailcone onto a trailer including the rolling rack. Four people with some 2x4 across the bottom of the rack. Palanquin style. Not an issue at all.

Since you said ‘uncrated’: I picked up my QB -10 with a Hertz rental truck at Vans. The ‘canoe’ was not crated but Vans’ crew filled it up with various parts, bags, etc. After emptying all that stuff my neighbor and I (2 adult males) carried it up the driveway into the garage. No more than a 50 lb load for each of us.

I thought it was substantially more. I'd have guessed a minimum of 80-100 pounds per person with 2 people. In particular, I remember trying to carry it by the stub spars and how those really dug into my hands...

My spar stubs had a large piece of thick wood bolted between them, made hand carrying them pretty easy. I don't recall anything digging into my hands. But it may have been 80 lbs. I was younger then!

How do you plan to take the finished fuselage out of the basement? I guess it will weight substantially more than the quickbuild stage.

I'm not who you're asking, but I assembled the fuse in the basement on a big dolly with casters. When it was time to exit the basement, I rolled that sucker out, down the side drive, into the street, around the corner, up the front drive, and into the garage. Then I attached the landing gear. I thought it was pretty funny pushing a 20' fuselage down the street in my neighborhood.

Yes, I have been chewing on that issue as well. I have built a dolly and Kyle’s method might work. My concern is I would be pushing it on turf with a slight uphill grade about 80’ to get to pavement. Maybe laying down reinforced plywood sheets might work. I can remember a contractor once brought a dozer down my street picking up and laying down 2x10’s as he went. Maybe I could pull the dolly with a rope and my car with a couple of people walking along side to keep it steady. Hopefully there is a way to accomplish this. My garage and hanger are options but they are not conditioned or insulated.
