Help on some intake tubes.

Hi gang: Forgive the none RV post, but I was hoping to tap into the lycoming brain trust here.

I’m trying to use a horizontal oil sump #77159 on my IO-320 powered Osprey 2 and I’m trying to find intake tubes that will work for me rather than fabricating them.

I was told that the oil sump was used on O-360A4K (Twin Comanche) as well as others. My engine is a 320 narrow deck.

The one tube shown in the picture is close for number 1 and 2 cylinders, but as you can see in the picture is a little short on 3 and 4 cylinders.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks Terry

Intake tubes

The stock Twin Commanche engines were IO 320 B or C series. All were rear mounted injection. The Miller conversions were angle valve 360's, not A4K

Intake

The stock Twin Commanche intake tubes should work. Quite a few of those airplanes going to the salvage yard. Also try Colorado Air Parts. They have a lot of odd ball parts.
The rear mount sump was also used on Grumman Tiger which was O 360 but with a horizontal carburetor.

Some of those oil pans were "either or", front or rear mount castings, which it is was determined by the machining. They can be easily changed from front to rear or vise versa, by machining the opposite side for the injector mount and placing a plate on the original side.

Terry,

Did this combination end up fitting up? A4K sump with the 70712 and 70713 intake tubes? Building a Long EZ and am interested in a similar set up.

Thanks!
Bill

Help with intake tubes

Hi Bill, yes they worked for me. My memory fails me, but I think I had to zip cut about 1/4” of the sump end. My engine is a IO-320.
