Heads up fuel pressure

Just a heads up guys. I could not get fuel pressure from either pump.
So I assumed it was the sensor. I put an ohm meter on the legs and with pumps working no change in readings. OK thats easy new sensor .Dynon sent one out. NOT still no pressure reading . Got to looking at things and there is an orfice inside the bolt that attached the returned and pressure line. Bingo you cant get pressure readings that way. I removed it and have good fuel pressure readings.

I am thinking that bolt (painted yellow on top) is for hooking up a return line with out a sensor hose. Some installations that would be fine. Not on the RV 12 we already have a restirction in the return line.

I have advised Vans on this. I am sure they will be putting something out on this. If you want just take a look at your bolt(yellow paint on top) you will see that there is an orfice you can remove from it.

Yellow Bolt

Brad,

Are you talking about the banjo bolt on the line that goes between the sensor and the union fitting? If you took it out what did you put back in there? Or are you saying you blocked off the hole? I'm confused.
By the way, hope you get to fly it tomorrow like you planned.

Inside that banjo bolt is a small orfice . Looks like a carburator jet. That is what I took out. Then put the bolt back the same place.

Cool...thanks Brad...beats me calling Dynon and hearing them say, "uh oh, another one!" Better be careful here or they'll pull our posts again huh. Anyway, thanks for the heads up and good luck tomorrow. Knowing where you live, you need to get all the flying in that you can over the next couple a months. Have a ball.

Good catch Brad! I got a call from the mother ship and they confirmed this is an issue. They said they will have an official "fix" published in a few days. The fix is remove the restrictor and reuse the bolt. IMHO it is a good idea to remove the yellow paint on top of the bolt. This signifies it is a standard bango bolt (no restrictor).

Be careful this weekend. Have a fresh set of eyes look the plane over, then have fun and let us know how she flys! I'm waiting on paperwork at this point in time.
