GPS antenna mounting location

Does the GPS antenna (Garmin) require a ground plane? Specifically, can it be mounted to the fiberglass cabin top without building a ground plane under it?

The GPS antenna needs no additional ground plane.

gps antenna

I have my garmin and Dynon gps antennas mounted about 8 inches apart on the fiberglass cabin top. They work great.
