GDU370 Keyboard Assumbly

I have the “Legacy” G3X with GDU370’s. Needed to deviate around weather last flight and pushed the softkey for heading mode and felt some plastic break. The lower softkeys on the lefties are recessed into the bezel. I believe it’s just the mounting device has broken and keys still function.
Garmin support says they no longer service these, has anyone else taken one apart to repair?

Reversionary mode working fine so not much to loose for a bit, although I’ll have to raise my IFR mins prollly.
Weird, I’m now the Legacy “Old Dude”……..took the Garmin tech quite a while to find out what exactly a GDU370 was, and they stopped servicing them “years ago.”
So, here we are.

I’ve always been willing to work on what other people have gave up on. And as a replacement touch is $4600 and I asses myself at $100/hour I think I can make it work. Can you believe JB weld stuff is over $10 now?
Alcohol to clean, Dremel and Pick to scratch up, I’ve got 2 pillars to completely rebuild and all the others have structure I’m reinforcing.
Best thing I could come up with to damn the epoxy was cotton balls, ear plugs were too squishy into the area. Turns out we didn’t have any cotton balls so toilet paper was the next best thing.
Should be set enough after this post to see how I did….
