Garmin SL40 User Settings for System Functions

I have standard issue Garmin SL40 comm and FlightCom 403 intercom in my RV-12. I?m trying to sort out a static noise problem and have been asking for assistance over in the VAF Avionics Forum - the guys are super helpful.

What I?m asking for here is if anyone has documented their Garmin SL40 user settings for the following System Functions:

? Headphone Level
? Mic Squelch 1 and 2
? Transmit Mic
? Intercom Level
? Sidetone Level

Any help is appreciated?

If the audio feature of a Gamin 396 or 496 is used, a "ground loop isolator" should be used.
The music input can also cause problems. Some RV-12 owners have disconnected the music wires.
