Garmin Pilot Synthetic Vision "No Attitude Information" when connected to G3X touch via bluetooth

Hopefully G3X Expert can provide a pointer. My RV9A runs a Garmin G3X Touch and I also run Garmin Pilot on my iPad Mini. Garmin Pilot gets GPS and ADSB Info from a Sky Echo 2. I connect my iPad to the G3X Touch Via Bluetooth and can send flight plans back and forth, get the engine information etc etc with no problem. When using the Synthetic Vision option of the Garmin Pilot it say "No Attitude Information" despite the setting page suggesting it gets ADHRS info from the G3X Touch.

The question is am I expecting too much? Or am missing something in settings? One would have thought if the Garmin Pilot app is getting ADHRS info it would let the synthetic vision bit work - otherwise what is the point of having a nice attitude display on the iPad if it is of no actual use.

Any tips or pointers most welcome
