Garmin G3X Touch 10.6" GDU460 for sale. $2800 Never flown.

I currently have an older Dynon D-180 with autopilot driven by Garmin GPS496. Plus Garmin SL-40 and Garmin GTX327 with uAvonix EchoUAT.

Thinking about upgrading to newer technology, but not the newest technology. Something like the G3X or Skyview.

Since I am unclear on what this would take, is there anyone that could provide a brief overview of what I will need to do. I am OK with keeping the radio/xponder/ADSB. And would like to keep the EMS sensors, and autopilot hardware that is already installed. I think it is Dynon AP-74.

Don't want to derail this classified thread, but the unit for sale on this thread is a candidate for my plans, and I am uncertain on how to proceed. Can a Garmin G3X interface with Dynon sensors and autopilot? Would I be able to do away with the GPS496? Or would I need to stay with Dynon Skyview type system to interface with the existing Dynon sensors and autopilot? Perhaps there is another thread that can help me understand the best path forward.

Thank you.

Hi. thanks for your interest. Your questions are beyond me, I am afraid. I am sure you can find the answers in VAF though. Let me know what you find out and if this might work for you.

The G3X install manual lists compatible non Garmin components and required LRU’s. It’s a bit of studying but the answers are there. Spend time in the pin-out section. You’ll need to know exactly what sensors are in use currently. As for additional LRU’s, you will at least need a GEA-24 and GSU-25. And a GAD-29 if you want to interface with any AIRINC 429 components you have.
Good luck!

As far as what it would take to update from the D-180 to Skyview, Dynon has published a guide -- see attached.
