Garmin has released a completely new line of touchscreen portables called the aera series. Given the pricing and features, they appear to be making the X95/96 series obsolete. They apparently use a single cable for all connections as well. With Garmin's recent drop of the 296 and 396, I wonder if the 495/496 days are numbered as well.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the RV-12 avionics kits in this regard. A bit like buying a new computer in that the portable GPS technology seems to be moving very quickly right now.
