G3X Touch Video Support

I’m looking at installing a AHD 1080P Vehicle Backup Camera to the Garmin G3X 10” touch screen. I’d like to connect this camera unit https://www.amazon.com/Vehicle-Moni.../B0BXP6J65L/ref=psdc_1253823011_t1_B0BKGGRP4Z

Using these adapters https://www.amazon.com/PNGKNYOCN-C...apter&qid=1688882152&sprefix=,aps,147&sr=8-13

From the schematic G3X support provided I can’t tell if it’ll support this configuration. If anyone has experience with a 1080p to G3X install your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

It looks like the camera has an "RCA" type output for the video. You would do better to use an RCA to BNC adapter then you can use coax (75 ohm) for the video connections. Do a search on Amazon they have them.

The connector on the back of the G3X is BNC and you need an BNC to RCA adapter like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-BN...2431&sprefix=bnc+to+rca+adapte,aps,151&sr=8-6

This will allow a composite video input. The G3X doesn't support HD video, just SD. Almost any backup camera with a composite video output will work.

Here's what I put in my plane:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H852D49/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The $499 camera the other user posted looks like it should work fine, but personally I don't think there it $450 of extra quality to be gained.

I think those were Swedish Kroners(sp?). I looked up the same camera on the big A and it was $40.

Curious:
What is the camera used for?

Whatever you like ... it's a great feature, although you just get standard definition video so no HD (if recording, you still get the HD or 4K recording, just the G3X display is SD).

The Garmin camera works fantastic and you can even control it from the touch screen. It may be a few years old but it's still the best setup for the G3X.

Garmin VIRB does work very well but find the Bluetooth control with the G3X “finicky”. The WiFi connection to my phone is rock solid and convenient to control it. Audio (including music) is recorded and that seems to also work well.

Thanks for all the advice, I now have a video (non-Virb) feed going into the G3X and it displays on the inset and vid pages but I do not see a way to capture an image or a video. I have an SD card inserted that’s capturing my engine information but I don’t see the Tools > Video In > Capture anywhere. Thoughts? Thanks!

Menu-Menu-Setup-Display -- scroll to Screenshot - Enable

Normal operation with the Video Inset window displayed, press and hold MENU button until the message "Screenshot Saved to SD Card" is displayed.
