Fuel cap retro kit

I was needing a fuel cap for an RV6. I saw they have a retro kit with a locking fuel cap for less than the old style fuel cap.

Does the retro kit fit over the fuel open flange or would you only use the insert which would be prosealed inside the original tank flange?

I believe the retrofit cap you are talking about has an insert that gets pro sealed into the stock flange, then you put the new cap into the reduced diameter hole.. if you keep an eye open, or post a WTB ad here, you can often get original style caps cheap here. They work really well when lubricated and adjusted correctly.
