Found Crack in Engine Mount

During Condition Inspection. Found crack through the engine mount near the left main gear. Wondering if I should repair existing mount or buy a new one.

This should be a pretty big undertaking…

Personally, I would repair in this case.

Looks familiar.
This is not a “crack”.
It is a broken mount that probably started as a crack.

While you've got it off, magnaflux the whole gear mount and see if there are any lurking problems. Lots easier to check now than to fix again later. (That's what I did on my Cessna)

Yup. It’s looking that way. A new mount from Vans has a 6 month lead time. My buddy just had his rv4 engine mount repaired by a fabricator in Oregon with a week turn around time. They came back looking brand new…

I'm happy to know that my plane will fly fine when one whole tube parts!!!! That's an impressive photo.... Sucks it all needs disassembled to repair. But welds are as strong as the original material and you won't benefit from getting a new structure. You already know the rest of it is solid after having a shop NDT it.
