Forward top tail skin

I will be attaching the forward top skin to the tail and canopy this week. Vans sugests a thin spread of sealant (i.e pro seal) just aft of the foward row of rivets to seal the top. If your glassing the cabin and top skin seam, do you still need that sealant.
