These hinge brackets have a clear plastic coating on them that is difficult to remove. I have tried a fingernail, razor blade, heat gun, and flames. Anybody have an easy removal method?
Agree, especially after sitting too long. I was able to peel and remove with acetone and friction. Poor combination of strong adhesive and weak plastic.
I heard someone had luck throwing it in the freezer.. came off easily.
Well the story was a NOS canopy from a T-6 and they couldn’t get the plastic coating off, started to damage it with solvents and scratching, so they threw it away outside. Over the cold night, the next day, it fell off on its own!

In the end, I kinda gave up and put it in a pan of xylene, set it in the Florida noon sun, and ignored it for about an hour. When I got back to it, the coating was crinkly and slid right off. The lazy way paid off for once.
