Engine order question

I'm about to join the line for a Thunderbolt engine but worry I do not understand the order form.

My intent is to go for mostly stock and put dual Pmags on (pending further evaluation in Oshkosh)
The order form offers:
-No Ignition, No Fuel System
-Dual Lycoming EIS Ignition, Airflow Performance fuel system
-Dual E-Mags Ignition, Airflow Performance fuel system

If I go no ignition and no fuel system, what do I end up doing regarding a fuel system?

When I read about the Airflow fuel system it seems to require air box modifications, which I think I want to avoid.

Additionally the engine comments state that a slick start booster system will be needed. What is this? Especially in light of P MAGS?

Once I order this engine, what is reversible vs not in terms of the electrical system? I'm debating waiting until absorbing OSH crowd wisdom...

Do blue, black, or red engines fly faster than Lycoming grey?

I love my Airflow Performance Injection system in my 6A...in spite of the minor changes dictated by my SamJames cowl/plenum. I also have LASAR ignition but would go with PMags if the LASAR hiccups!

If you go without a factory fuel system, then you get the privilege of rolling your own. Save yourself a headache and go with the AFP system. I have an AFP AFM-250 and I don't recall having to make any significant mods to the airbox.

The SlickStart is a shower of sparks system used for starting with retard breaker left mag which you won't have with an EIS (regardless of brand).

My engine is blue (although not a Thunderbolt) and I have a slow RV-10 so maybe go red. :ROFLMAO:

I would assume the no ignition, no fuel system is the choice for those going down the SDS (or similar) path.

I do not know of any air box issues with using the AirFlow Performance fuel manager.

If you go with dual six cylinder pMags you eliminate the function of the Slick start booster. Remember if using the horrible ignition key you need to wire it so the engine starts with both pMags.

I like the Black and Silver engine paint option. It goes well with the gray paint I use on the engine baffles and plenum.

The one option you did not mention is Thunderbolt use of high (9.0) pistons or stock (8.5). I go with 8.5 to better support use of Mogas as a hedge against avgas price and/or availability problems.

no good Auburn man would intentionally choose red for anything! War Eagle!
