Engine Delivery Accuracy from Final Payment

I’ve decided to go with Barrett. Rhonda has been great and I’ll have the engine in my shop by next spring. Aerosport would’ve had it done by the holidays this year, but I don’t need it that soon and they were $20-30K more. Easy choice.

Well, more engine delays for me. I made my final payment last month after getting the email from Vans saying my engine was entering production. Now Vans says delivery is scheduled for mid-November. If they make that deadline (0% chance IMO), it will have been 43 months since I ordered it. Pretty confident I won't see my engine this year. In hindsight, I should have ordered my engine three years before I started building.
ouch.. yours was TB, right???

They pushed my delivery from 4/21 to 6/19 to 7/28 so I'll give vans a call once they are back in the office next week to see if there is another change to that date.. something tells me I'm not going to be able to get the cowl fit and everything painted before the cold weather sets in.

I'd have gone with almost anyone else than Lycoming and would have loved to do business with Rhonda, but they don't do 390s

I heard back from Vans, who checked with Lycoming and the story is that Lycoming is having "supplier problems" and that they expect my engine to ship in August some time, and they'll let me know when...

One lesson to take out of all this is that it might make sense to stay as standard (ie-magnetos) as you can when you order...
Another lesson: keep asking Vans, and keep asking, and keep asking.

It's a shame: I believe Vans communicated well- frequently, accurately, timely- in the RVAtor era. Before bankruptcy or LCP that stopped.
I don't think they understand that NOT communicating gives up the narrative to others. Marc?
