Elevator trim servo - threaded shaft

Scott Will

Well Known Member
Went to reverse the power wires on my elevator servo because it ran backwards. I then noticed that the threaded shaft is interfering with the wires I ran to the servo. As you actuate the servo, the threaded rod extends into the hole & snap bushing and it rubs on the wires (thank fully I have the wires protected very, very well and I caught it before anything actually happened).

What are ya'll doing to solve this? I should probably take the elevator off and drill a new hole above or to the side so the threaded rod slides in and out of the prepunched hole Vans put in the spar.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Add Another Hole

Hi Scott,

I added another hole for the wires - I observed the same problem you did.

Scott and Pete,
Did you originally drill the hole depicted on the plans for the manual trim cable? If so, Pete can you give the location of the second hole you made. I'm just getting started building and wasn't sure about using the location of the manual trim hole and running wires through it. Thanks
