EarthX battery won't fit in a EarthX battery box?..

So I got BB-MU2 box (I got it from Aircraft Spruce, but it should be an EarthX-supplied one) with the intent to use it with a ETX900-VNT battery. EarthX website says these two should work together. However, my mock case "E" battery (which I believe I got from EarthX directly) doesn't fit. Based on dimensions given for ETX900-VNT, my mock is the correct one (ETX900-VNT is listed at 79mm thick and my mock is roughly that thickness as well).

I suppose, I can modify this box and replace the lip. Before I reach their support, shouldn't it just work? Am I going crazy?

This is how I was thinking to install two of these batteries, between the front ribs, next to the firewall. If I have to modify the box, I wonder if fabricating my own "shelf" from some angles would be an easier path. I still need to figure out some way to support the box anyway.

My real one has a 1/4" or so taper from top to bottom, which my older mockup did not. I believe they changed the case size at some point.

The narrower format is current as I understand it.

Don't panic yet. Wait for their reply.

Hello Ivan and you are not going crazy and I am sorry for this confusion! Back in 2022 the "E" case from EarthX went on a diet by popular demand and went from 79mm in width to 76mm in width so it would fit in all of the Van's provided battery boxes and also so it fits in a certified battery box in the GA market moving forward. The mock shell you have is prior to this change and any and all batteries shipping today (and for the past 3+ years) will fit that box. When you are ready for the battery, it will fit perfectly in that box.
