Early RV-4 fuel tanks

Digging in to resealing my RV-4 tanks and my friend noticed the rear of the tank (T-402?) was installed with the flange facing forward which doesn't match the current plans. This is an early kit from the 80's and I know the fuel tanks were changed at some point. Were the early tanks designed this way? They seem correct looking at them, because the flange fits over the ribs. If this is incorrect how do I go about fixing them? New tank kits from Vans are labeled as "oversized", which would mean modifying the wing to accommodate right?

I'm looking for some guidance.

Here you go - aft baffle facing forward (S/N 1136). Note use of Pop AK-42H pull type rivets …

Have you tried contacting Van's and asking for a set of plans correct for an early serial number (#430) such as yours? This probably won't go anywhere - but hey, you never know unless you ask.

I tried to DM you but there was no link on your member info page. If you want to talk about it, can I have an email or call me at (559) 816-0433.

Thanks, I will try contacting vans. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something as I rebuild the tanks.

If no "joy" with Van's - I can have a set copied of mine (18x24), but no doubt it will be expensive ...

"oversize" refers to the replacement tank skins. These skins are a little longer than needed just in case. When I rebuilt my RV-4 tanks, I trimmed pretty much all of the oversize off.
