Early -12 Nosegear

Just looking through my old OSHKOSH 2007 pics and noticed the nosegear on the RV-12 at the Van's booth is different than the ones on them now...
Interesting...

I think it was steerable but was nixed due to extra weight and maintenance cost/procedures for the operator.
