This was the year to replace the batteries in the remote panel and audio panel. Been flying for 6 years now. The remote panel was fine but audio panel was corroded so badly the metal disintegrated. Came across this 2019 advisory from ACK issued 2 months before my first flight

I had the same thing. After replacing the unit I decided to never purchase a Duracell battery again.

+1

Did an elt test at ci this month and failed. Old 6 battery 121.5 orange unit. White crap all around the elt. Two duracell D cells had leaked acid out everywhere. Fortunately the electronics were separated with an oringed cover, so no serious damage.

Done with duracell.

I’m running my ELT-04 with a replacement audio unit for the same reason. Always pull the audio module, panel control unit (it’s battery was just starting to leak once but I caught it early), and take off the main ELT battery during annual CI to check for leakage and open circuit voltage.

I have had two fail in different aircraft long before the expiry date on the battery.
