Drilling Spinner

Reviewing the KAI before I align and drill the spinner. My spinner is opaque. Is there a trick here? Do you drill the spinner plates first and use magnetic balls to find the holes or what? How did you do it?

How old is your spinner ?

Ours are translucent green - ish and we could see through just fine to drill. Needed a torch behind though.
