Drilling HS-814-1 to aft deck

Looking at mounting the Horizontal stabiliser and I have not quite worked it out how to do it.

How were the four holes drilled through HS-814-1 considering the upper splice position and the proximity fuse sides being in the way.

Any pictures would help

Thanks
Rob

I’ve just done this and have loads of pictures.
Will send you some when I’m home later today

So I used a 90 degree drill to do it. Started small with a #45, then went up in stages when I was happy with the hole.

It’s a strange one as the hole is not in the middle of the longeron, it’s in the middle of the horizontal vertex when measured from underneath, and you can’t see the longeron as it’s buried under a load of other metal.

It took me 4 weeks to build up the courage to drill those holes! 😂

Thanks Jonny

I’ll de-rivet the last vertical bulkhead, F-810-A, from F-819-1 aft deck to give me the access that is in your pictures,

Thought I had got ahead of myself.

Thanks
Rob
