Data base update for Apollo SL-60

Charlie B

I'm New Here
I have a 20 year old Apollo SL-60 Com/GPS in my RV-6A. The GPS was IFR certified if the data base was updated monthly. Apollo was bought out by Garmin about 18 years ago and Garmin no longer provides updates or repairs. No problem, as I rarely fly IFR and the system still worked flawlessly for VFR. Until recently.

The data base just bombed and the GPS is now unusable. The comm is still great. Can anybody suggest where and/or how I can get a data base update or repair?

You could try talking with Jeppesen. Otherwise, if there is something wrong with the GPS board, Chris at Short Tronics may be able to help. He is the go to guy for GNS-480 repairs, which was an Apollo product (CNX-80) before acquired by Garmin. The Comm side of the GNS-480 is supposedly an SL-30 board.
