Daily RV Pic

Nice day for a flight. Although it was very bumpy below about 9K, both directions. Top picture is Detroit Lake (nice camping/fishing/water skiing). Bottom is Mt. Jefferson (I'm pretty sure) in the Central Oregon Cascades.Detroit Lake 5-8-25.jpgCentral Oregon Cascasdes 5-8-25.jpg

Vlad,
I wonder what archeologists will think of these eons from now?

I don't think there will be much interest. Several years ago I found a fossilized phytosaurus in a sandstone while hiking in Wyoming. Told our archeologist and mentioned to a dyno museum folks. Nobody cared plenty of those reptiles around. Came a year later and chiseled out an ankle. Gave it to a local kid collecting the bones.

Tons of petrified trees you can't even move those stone chunks.

Vlad,
Good story. I was think of the Nazca Plateau lines that look like runways.

Over the Cascades, over the Blues and into the Treasure Valley we go to see Sis and her Hubby in Nampa Idaho -- Sis playing airplane like we did as kids!

A smooth and pleasant flight down the Owen’s Valley this morning….Mt. Whitney never fails to disappoint! The drive to Big Bear Lake from Carson City is 8 hours…in Tsamsiyu? Two hours and ten minutes…and that’s going around the Edward’s complex! Time Machines….

Fuelling up at ZBB around 630am, before flying home after getting off work the evening before. I don't like getting out of bed early unless its flying on a nice smooth and quiet morning!
Nice pic! And yeah, I like dawn patrol flying, but dang it’s hard to get up early to go do it…

Flew to Lake Powell for a morning hike. Temps are already in the 80ies.

Two miles down by the marina there is a corner store with everything in it.

An air conditioned bathroom and visitor center are conveniently located between the airstrip and the store.

They even have a commuter.

The morse code reads...

Line 1 - "TO"
Line 2 - "FLY"

I assume that translates to mean - "Take Off, Fly"

Clever.

Colorado stunning! GREAT example of our glacial geology! Carved out during the Pinedale glacial period 22,000 to 13,000 years ago. A lot of geology has happened here since then as well! I've been to that airport on the ground; have never landed there. Not for the faint-of-heart....!

Actually Michael I found the airport relatively easy on approach, landing and take off. Johnson Creek easy. The grass runway was excellent in August 2021.
