Cutting cowl inlet depth

I have my cowl final fitted, Now it's time to trim the back side of the inlets. The plans say 2" back..Is this all the way around the inside of the inlet? To create a 2" reveal all the way around the inside of the inlet? And is it from the face of the inlet or the top of the curve of the inlet? Thought I would ask before breaking out the cutoff wheel for the last time before the forward baffel get trimmed.
