My 2011 has some powdered aluminum coming from the cowl to fuselage especially after flying through rain. The clearance on the cowl is very tight, has anyone added something to decrease this issue (maybe Teflon tape)?
I've only ordered my RV-10 empennage kit two days ago, so take this post for what it's worth.
Most certified planes use anti-chafe tape, various kinds available at aircraft spruce:

Can you actually identify where the cowl edges are butting up against the fuselage skins? Is there paint removed from the metal?
In my experience the black streaks after flying in IMC or rain are more likely to be hinge pin lube or aluminium dust - or general engine minor oil leaks/dirt/grime making their way out.
So worth checking for that just in case.
Cheers
