Control column mount F-1033?

Removing some material from the control column mount, Page 28-4. Any ideas on what to use or how to do it.

Drill the two inside corners and use a bandsaw, hacksaw, reciprocating saw, jigsaw, dremel, etc. to cut to those corners. Then dress with a file or belt sander.
