Co-Pilot control stick wiring question.

Update below……

So the KAI’s state to cut the control stick wires to 7.5” from the bushing which I did. After putting the connectors on, I realize that the co-pilot side is gonna be too short to fit the mount hole provided in the rib when the stick is full left and down. 🤬😡😤

I do not have the wings on or the aileron torque tubes fitted yet. Please tell me that the full stick left and right will be limited once more than it is now when I get it fully assembled.

This is one of those things that we tend to want to find an easy solution to, but in reality the easiest solution might just be to add new longer wires. No further pondering required.

Pretty sure the only way to do that per the KIA’s is to replace the entire grip without disassembling the grip whit h looks like a challenge. I don’t want a bunch of splices inside the stick or in the area between the D-shell and the snap bushing.

Crisis averted. Turns out I still had quite a bit of slack still in the tube! 😀

I suggest anyone that reads this in the future and you are doing this task, do not cut the wires at the 7.5” the KAI’s call out. I would make em 9.5”.

Glad that worked out for you. My comments were generic I guess since I have no idea what KAI means.
Neither did I till I started building a 12. Kit Assembly Instructions otherwise known as the plans or build manual. I prefer plans because I am no spring chicken anymore.

If there was a 'gotcha' sticky, this would be on it among several other things (bushing holes in center section, stab' down travel, etc).

The KAI dimension of the stick wiring was just barely enough for mine. I changed out mid-build to the fat-boy stick and the only way to do that is to cut and re-pin the connection. I was sweating bullets, but it worked out ok.
