Ok CR3212 4-4. Looks like 2 different styles?
Can someone explain the difference?
In the second photo, are they fully pulled?

I have worked with Cherrymax rivets for literally decades, the un-pulled rivet on the left looks suspicious to me, it appears to be a different diameter, has a different sleeve and the stem has a fatter head. I have never seen or touched a Cherrymax like the one on the left. The Pulled rivet on the far right appears completely normal for a properly set real Cherrymax.

I too have worked with CherryMax for years , beofre them we used Cherry Locks.. similar but needed more complex tooling and grip length details. There are other vendors that produce similar and equivalent products..see the DWG for the HuckMAX, which looks very similar to your picture. Cherry, Huck, Jo-bolt...lots of legacy hardware exists. If this was in a kit bag, I'd suspect VANs is utilizing other suppliers. I don't have any supporting data for your case, but this is my suspicion. I don't believe the picture of the one on the left is a product of Cherry, but likely an equivalent.

Take a clear photo of the installed rivet head to help identify the manufacturer.
① HEAD MARKINGS AND LOCK COLLAR VISIBLE AFTER INSTALLATION.
② GOLD COLORED DRIVING ANVIL IDENTIFIES NOMINAL DIAMETER RIVETS.

I think the one on the left is a 3214, not 3212. I also believe the 3214 series is what some folks are using for the top longerons inside the gear towers on the RV-8.

I have been doing sheet metal repairs on corporate jets for 47 years and the rivet on the left is nothing I have ever seen. It appears to be some sort of a Huck rivet (possibly a new style). The shop head appears to be a Huck. The rivet on the right is definitely the Cherry Max CR3212-4-4. To tell if the Cherry rivet is properly installed, you should see the tiny lock ring firmly installed around the stem on the head.
