Canopy Struts - A better way to do it

The best way to do this is with a small wrench, its tough for sure. what I ended up doing was basically sticking the whole wrench into the C channel and just bracing it with my finger, it ended up working, but annoying
I got that far, but I was hoping it wasn't the only option. My goodness that's an "interesting" design.

Where did you get the carbon fiber longeron covers showing in the pic above? I have seen them in several planes but are unable to source them
I didn't! It's a carbon wrap installed by the previous owner. I thought I'd be tearing it out first chance I had, but it's actually grown on me.

Well done. Mission accomplished.

Can I suggest you swap your gas struts around end for end? You want the gas-filled part at the top when the canopy is open. This is so the (very) small amount of oil in the strut can lubricate the seals and also provide a dampener at the end of the stroke.

Ok. Good deal. Thanks for the info.
