Buying an RV14

Planeasday

I'm New Here
Looking to buy a low time well build RV14. Figured I would learn a lot from the members in this group, and doing so... Thanks for all of the tips.
How much should I expect to pay for one with low hours and a well loaded panel? I'm seeing some asking north of $300K.

$300-$350 is in the ballpark but there are always bargains to be found, especially if you don't care about show quality paint or sports car like interiors. Your requirement for low hours and a "well loaded panel" puts you in the higher price range.

Lower than $300 is rare but they do pop up from time to time.

A complete kit (ok, not quite complete) is between $65,000 and $91,000 now.
This does not include FWF which for me was another $14,000
Add an engine $68,000 for non certified, or $82,000 for the Thunderbolt.
So I don’t lose track. total now ranges $147,000 to $187,000
Propeller range is $12,500 to $19,000
so now we are at $159,500 to $206,000
Avionics? Yes please.
My recent Garmin IFR “Very well equipped” panel was about $70,000. Could likely do it for less, say $50,000 on the lower end for just “Well equiped”
So, running total now is $209,500 to $276,000.
I can also tell you that there are still a bunch of things missing.
Paint will run $20,000 to $40,000
Interior? $5000-$10,000
Plus shop supplies, adhesives. primer, replacement parts for mistakes, hardware..

Could you build one for less than $235,000? sure I guess, but does that reduce the value of the ones out there?
Easy to see $300k invested today…
And I didn’t mention tools or 2000 hours of time.

good luck!

Yep, I'm at 280k without paint at this point. Not including tools and time of course. So I agree the market is going to be in the 300k range and vary from there. I see only two on TAP today, $299k and $339k, so right in the ballpark.
