Bushing on control stick wires

The plans call for installing an SB187-2 snap bushing where the wires from the control head egress the lower end of the control stick. The teen group I'm working with is having a good deal of difficulty fitting this bushing over the wires (and presumably I will as well in a few days), so I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite trick for getting all the wires through that bushing without causing any damage. I've found notes that it can be difficult, but I haven't found mention of what eventually led to success. I'm thinking it may be necessary to slit the bushing, but that's treacherous on such a tiny part. Does anyone have better advice?

Poke as many as you can fairly easily and then any remaining….stick the end of the wire in the center of the wire bundle and then pull the bushing up over it. Rinse and repeat. Works great!

Not sure why Vans made it that tight. There might be some concern with stress levels in that area.

I was sure we tried this, but maybe we didn't try hard enough or pull enough wire through first. I just did this on my own build and it worked like a charm. 30 seconds and the bushing was in place.

Thank you!
