A fly-in will be held at Blackwater Airfield on November 10-12, 2023. Enjoy hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, socializing and relaxing A variety of campground amenities and recreational opportunities are readily accessible nearby at Krul Recreation Areas campgrounds with improved camping sites and restrooms with showers. There is a nice swimming lake close by, and trails through the dense woods and suspension bridges over ravines provide that feeling of truly getting away from it all. The Blackwater River winds through the area. Named by the Choctaw Indians, the tannin-stained water contrasts sharply with the white sandy riverbed. Floaters and paddlers enjoy its leisurely flow beneath the dense forest canopy. An airfield day use fee of $2 is charged by the State of Florida and must be paid online prior to arrival. Krul Campground has several payment options available for its camping sites and showers. A group permit has already been pulled for the campout, there is no additional paperwork required for anyone flying in.

Though the strip is grass, it is in good condition and perfectly suitable for RV's with wheelpants. Hope to see some VAF members fly in and camp or just come hang out for the day!
