My build is essentially finished, and ready for airworthiness inspection prior to first flight. I contacted the DAR who operates in this area, and he agreed to do the inspection as soon as the local FSDO gives him official notification, based on my online AWC application. Sooooo - he informed me that the FSDO has suspended all AWC activities, including DAR notifications, during the government shutdown. He's not able to perform an inspection without official notification from the FAA. I suspect that there will be a significant backlog once the shutdown ends, and that it'll grow larger the longer it goes on. I wonder if others are facing the same dilemma?
