Alaska Flight -- Boldly going where Vlad has gone before

In August I accomplished something I have wanted to do for a long time, flying to Alaska and back from Maryland in the RV-7. Going, I flew the Alcan Highway. I stayed 3 weeks in Alaska where we had a family vacation. Coming back I flew The Trench and then south through the Canadian Rockies before cutting east to the flatlands. I crossed the U.S./Canada border both times at the Whetstone/Del Bonita border turf strip. It was a great adventure. Check out the web log of the trip (which I spent entirely too much time putting together): Link. Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing! I'm currently building an RV7 and can only dream of one day being able to do what you did!

Thanks for the write up and pictures. It looks like a great experience. I would like to give it a try one of these days!

Wooooo!!! Yet another epic trip report from Bill! Fantastic pics and narrative. I must admit I'm a bit jealous of your clear weather day to see Denali, Talkeeta and Homer; when I did my bucket list Alaska trip last summer we were sorta stuck in the Fairbanks area as all of SE Alaska was socked in for a week. Booo. But, that just means I gotta go back some day...
