Aileron trim attachment plate

We have the Van's aileron trim kit installed, and we notice that it attaches to the inspection cover under the wing.

While operating the aileron we would see the inspection cover warp and deform under the load of the trim springs that attach to the pushrod. Frankly, the system seems quite flimsy.

We've been toying with the idea of making a new, thicker inspection cover for this location. The original is .030" thick and we're thinking .045" or so. Has anyone else noticed this?

While I haven't noticed what you describe, mine hasn't shown any issues. You might consider putting a doubler under the servo.

I haven't seen that either, but I haven't looked for it. I don't see any problem with putting a thicker plate there.
