Aerosport Low Profile Handle Installation Issue

I’m installing the Low Profile Handles. I’ve discovered that the handle holes for the original PlaneAround installation are not centered. Thus, the hardware for the low profile handle will not fit unless I carve out some fiberglass on the forward wall of the inset. I was thinking to cut it out and remold a new inset wall to accommodate the new strike plate. Has anyone had this issue before and if so how did you resolve it? Any thoughts on if this is a viable solution? Do you have a better idea?

Thanks,

I think you would be better off glassing over the center hole that is drilled and then install the low profile handles where you need them. Here’s pictures of when I did it.

Thanks,

Be careful not to move the door handle gearbox if you are going to use this with the plane-around 360 center cam addition. I was trying to install both the low profile handles and the plane around latch as part of my build, and decided to move the door handle gearbox so it was centered in the "standard" door pocket, instead of offset. The resulting change in the location of the gear box meant that the aluminum push rods provided with the plane around system would not work as the length was now wrong. I ended up having Plane-Around make me a new set of the push rods that were the right length for my revised distance between the Vans gear box and the plane-around gear box.

I probably wouldn't have had this problem if I had measured from the revised gear box location to the plane-around gearbox mad moved it accordingly, instead of installing the plane-around gear box per the plans and then moving the Van's gear box to center it in the pocket, thus changing the distance between the two gear boxes.

Cheers
