Adding Garmin GPS 20a to 2013 RV-12 With Standard Van's Garmin Avionics

I want to add ADS-B out to a 2013 legacy RV-12 with standard Garmin G3X -T kit.
It has a GTX-23es and GDL-39r with standard wiring as per Van's KAI.

I am not the builder so will have to get an avionics person to do the upgrade.
Luckily I have a Garmin GPS 20a available from someone I know.

I need to source other info to tell avionics person what will be involved to do the upgrade so they can quote.
I can't find the KAI section that shows where the gps 20a is installed.

Questions:

1. I will need a new antenna but do I need the GA-36 or the GA-35 antenna?

2. Can someone point me to the section in KAI that deals with upgrading to a Garmin GPS 20a.

3. Any advice on doing the upgrade would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Look up the Garmin GPS20A installation…that should explain the connection protocols…had a GPS20A installed with an ES transponder in a different model airplane and it went pretty smoothly… mounted the small GPS20A under the panel in this case. On my RV12 I mounted the GDL82 in the wiring tunnel center section.. I believe a GPS20 A could fit there also. Access pretty simple by removing cover on the tunnel

You will need the GA-35. SteinAir made the RV12 harnesses for Vans. They can supply the Harness and the GA-35 and antenna cable. The GPS 20A gets mounted to the inside firewall behind the right G3x If you have a dual display. Otherwise mount it some place on the floor of the electronics bay on the Right side. The new GA-35 should be mounted on the original supplied shelf. Vans offered a second shelf for the standard G3X antenna if you choose to install it. SteinAir can supply you with the wiring diagram for the new harness. I hope this helps.

Unlikely to get a harness or wiring guidance from Stein, unless things have changed significantly.
