3D Scanner rental/loan?

I want to scan the intersection of the landing gear and fuselage of my RV-6 to create a model for new fairings. I need a scanner. Does anyone have one they'd be willing to loan or rent out? I'll willing share any scan data I get with the forum.

That's a bit of a haul but I do fly to Boston occasionally. If I head up there, I'll reach out.

What scanner do you have? Do you recommend it?

If you have a recent Iphone, you can get an app to use the built in LIDAR to make pretty decent scans.

Update. I bought an Einstar 2 3D scanner. Worked great! Now I have to turn the point cloud into something useful. I'll put my results on the 3D printing forum.

I've found it pays off to do as much as you can in the scanner software to stitch, simplify, and align the mesh. And then spend the time to align the body more accurately in CAD. After that section planes in CAD are your friend. The mesh itself is pretty much an opaque blob for you to draw and infer from.

You will quickly learn about precision, accuracy, and tolerance dealing with meshes.
