I've noticed that the 470 4-4 and 4-6 that attach the main ribs to the spar seem to be a thought experiment for most builders finding a thin enough bucking bar, a long enough cupped set, and modifying that set.
Would there be an issue with riveting the A-1005A main ribs to the spar, then adding the hinge brackets, then riveting the skins to the already mounted ribs? I'm curious if the instruction order is to help maintain alignment and help prevent twist?

I just started getting the pieces cleaned up, so maybe while getting everything assembled and deburred it would become more obvious, but, TIA for your thoughts and feedback.
 
Delay figure 4 and 5 on 22-03, rivet the main ribs to the spar first, then rivet the attach brackets.. so on page 22-05, the main ribs would already be riveted to the spar with a squeezer, and not attached to the skins. So instead of riveting the main ribs to the spar, I'd rivet the skins to the ribs on 22-05
 
I riveted the skins to the ribs after and it worked out far better (and easier) than the KAI-recommended steps on my 10.
 
Are you sure you'll have enough room to rivet the skins to the ribs, with the ribs already attached to the spar?
That's a good consideration. Since the bottom skin isn't attached yet, I don't think there will be any access issue or added dangers of thin skins near the bucking bar.
The top 3 rivets should also be squeezable, in addition, the most inaccessible rivet between the rib/spar/skin is supposed to be riveted per the KAI on that step anyways.

Best of luck! I've recommended it to several people. With the stock order of operations I had the most trouble getting anything into the wedge shaped area between the skin and spar to buck those rivets. Changing the assembly order made the whole process trivial plus you don't have to find a way to get a thin bucking bar or whatever into the hinge area.
