Use the vise to squeeze them. Put your male set in a block and squeeze the whole mess in the vise. Use a smooth something for the mfg head so you don't get a "jaw print".
I'd get the right depth squeezer. These like to bend over.

I clamped the pushrod in a vice and bucked the rivets with a gun, no problem. One thing I did was to drill the holes with a 1/8 inch drill instead of a size 30. This allowed the rivet to fit very tight in the hole and therefore very little expansion of the rivet shaft needed to start forming a rivet shophead. I also used a 4-11 rivet instead of a 12.
