Hello Guy's
We are just getting started on the wheel fairings today and I'm wandering how the hinge pins are installed and removed on the gear leg fairings. I usually do the research first but I'm getting too lazy for this one.
Thanks Ron
Here's another way to close your fairings without the hinge pin. Build a dam of flox or microballoon material along the rearward edge, then simply seal them together with 1/2 inch 3M VHB tape. to open, run a razor blade bewteen the edges and remove. Clean off residue and retape when putting the fairing back on.
Just gathering up the parts to install the leg fairings.
They call out the hinge as part #U-1017B.. in normal Van's instructions, they take a piece of general hardware (i.e. a hinge) and you make it to shape and give it a part number.
I have 2 different size hinges left over.. but in the instructions, I cannot find where they say..."go and get a hinge number XXX and cut it to length and call it U-1017B?"
