Osh 2026 NOTAM

As far as VFR arrival I don't recall much in the way of changes other than minor tweaks since the year they added the IAP's starting at Endeavor Bridge. Same, same or have my reading skills deteriorated with age as fast as my dashing movie star goodlooks?
Same, same with some new additions of VFR reporting points and routes for pilots heading to Appleton (ATW).

A better pro tip: Follow the procedures in the NOTAM. Those procedures STRONGLY ENCOURAGE cancelling IFR and flying the Fisk arrival if the weather is better than 4500/5.
I’ve flown in IFR the past 8 years and plan to do so again this year— it’s painless. Strongly encouraged means nothing. It’s either allowed or it isn’t— there’s no in between. At the moment it’s allowed—simple as that.

There's nothing I can say to this that hasn't been said before. Good luck, fly safe, see you at the show.

2300 is allowed also!

I have always flown the high path. Not hanging out behind farmer John in a j3 cub doing max fwd speed. Never been a problem.

As usual, I'll arrive on the Friday before opening day to avoid the bulk of the inbound traffic. I ordered my printed NOTAM last night. See y'all at the show.

Or..........
Land at KOSH at 11:59am on Thursday, 1 minute, before the NOTAM goes into effect.
And then spend the time, before the show opens, volunteering at FLO N40.

Very satisfying to me, your mileage may vary.

My hard paper copy arrived in the mail today.
Yup, mine came in earlier this week. A sure indicator the mental preparations are in progress. Spent some time yesterday shopping for a replacement tent, old one was pretty much being held together with Gorilla tape, rounding up my other camping gear & Oshkosh stuff. At this rate I'll be ready to go next week, then the slow crawl begins...tick, tock, tick, tock 😪

If you arrive on Wednesday before the NOTAM takes affect, do you just call the tower with the ATIS?
As stated, it's normal Class D at that point. After you land be prepared to tell Ground where you want to go in terms of taxiways as there probably won't be any marshallers; like "EAA Homebuilt parking via Papa-1", or something to that effect. Don't assume that the controller knows areas by name. IOW don't just say I want to go to HBC as they might not know where that is. Having the airport diagram or SafeTaxi up will help would.
