I'm confused on some directions

RV10. I am working on the Elevators.

In photo, instruction 6 says to put a slight bend in trailing edge of E-1001 skins so they lay down flat, references section 5. I can't find anything in section 5 specifically addressing this, it looks to me like they will/should lay flat without a bend?

1. • Should I bend and if so which direction?
   • Looking ahead, section five uses a 3M two sided tape instead of flame seal on the trailing edge. Which should I use?
   • Trying to read on this I see reference to building a home brake with door hinges, but this seems to only be used on a bent over trailed edge, not a 2 or three piece. I expect this is needed for the trim section?
   • Thank you. I find translating 2D directions to 3D actions tough to visualize...

You use it to put a very slight crease in the trailing edge of the skin. The top skin would crease downwards, the bottom skin creases upwards. Whatever you do don't do it the wrong way because it won't bend back.

On the 2nd question, I'd go with the tank sealant. It's not pleasant, but for this particular location, it's super easy to access. Just plan ahead and take your time.

Take a look at section 5.10, "Lap Joints". This is not really a lap joint, but the technique is the same.

And PRACTICE with that tool BEFORE you try it on the skins. If you don’t, it likely will not end well.

You will use that tool a fair bit. Well worth purchasing.

Tape vs proseal is another debate. You will find strong opinions both ways. I used tape and am happy. Others used proseal/flameseal and are happy. YMMV.

Yeah, that was where I could not understand. I've overlapped something already, perhaps the rudder. This use seemed different than I expected.

I’ve done it all three ways. Epoxy, sealant and tape. Whatever you use remember it’s literally just there to hold the edges together while you rivet it. So it doesn’t really matter.
FWIW I think tape is by far the quickest and cleanest

You might as well go tank sealant since you have to comply with the
SB on the elevators using it as well, thats my plan. I am about to start riviting the horizontal sand will be on the elevators soon after that.
