Monday and Tuesday Flights

I was at KBNL on Monday and needed to get to KLAN for a meeting on Tuesday so I departed KBNL Monday morning and made a stop at KLEX (my home base) to pick up a change of clothes. Once airborne again I stopped by KGEO, because they have Swift 94 unleaded fuel available to feed the Rotax, before meeting a fellow pilot buddy at i74 for an on the airfield lunch. After lunch we did a walkthrough of the Champaign Aviation Museum before once again taking to the sky. This leg was a short hop to 1G0 for an overnight visit with my cousin, a Professor at BGSU, and his family. This allowed me to be fresh and ready to fly the final leg to my meeting at KLAN.

By now you have either given up reading or else you’re still consulting AirNav trying to figure out where each of the airport identifiers are located. Perhaps this little exercise will come to mind next time you are about to make a post using only an airport identifier as reference.

Bet you didn’t find anything for BGSU on AirNav!

AH HA ... took some googlin to find that BGSU's av program is based nearby at 1G0.
Sounds like it was a nice little trip, perfect for an RV12 😜
My next hop is to SNF 💖

I, too, flew the -12 to SNF in 2022 when it had been flying for only 7 months at the time. Everyone told me that the -12 IS NOT the type of airplane that one would make such a trip but it flew like a champ with one stop at KBNL (Barnwell, SC) for unleaded fuel on tap.

Off topic, but does GEO have self serve Swift 94? I stopped there several years ago but had difficulity getting Swift 94 and there was no one around to asist.

Yes. Self serve and easily accessible.

KGEO is occupied mostly by one family and they fly certified AND experimental. PM me and I can give you a door code for the building if you need the bathroom or even to sleep over to avoid weather. They have a phone number inside to call if you need assistance. There is one house right on the grounds (but winter months they are at their Florida airpark home) and others reside very close by. I don't know any of them personally but they have always been accommodating when I stop in and they are around.

You can get to Florida from Kalamazoo on unleaded. First stop KTEL (Tell City, IN), second stop KBNL (Barnwell, SC) then KGIF (Winter Park, FL) before a final destination anywhere in Florida. A shorter route can be made if you coordinate with me in advance and I can have 20 gallons ready for you at KLEX (Lexington, KY) for your first stop.

My -12 is now over 500 hours and ZERO leaded fuel has been burned.

Thanks Jayson. I'll get the code if we plan a flight that way.

Our Europa has 1500 hours. We used some 100LL during the first 25 hours and saw the lead deposits. None used since then.
