9A Aileron hinge questio

Should there be a washer between the spacer and the inboard hinge bracket for the aileron? My bracket doesn’t have that raised area around the screw hole like Vans website shows. I really think I should put a washer.

Thanks folks.

In my build it's exactly like the plans, but then the brackets I have show the raised section. I don't think there would be any technical reason why you'd need a washer, since once you do that assembly up tight the bolt, spacer & large washer all sandwich to the aileron bearing outer race.

Thank you, that makes sense. I appreciate the help.

Are you using a screw or a bolt? I think you’ll find it needs to be a countersunk screw to avoid conflicting with the flaps. If you did use a countersunk screw, how is it sitting up against the aileron bracket? I think, from what I can see, you need to dimple your bracket and shorten your spacer. MS24694-S67 as per your plans? The hole at the other end is dimpled correctly, I can just about see it in the picture.

Im using the counter sink srews. I just noticed the dimple at the other end, but somehow the missed dimpling the other end. So I’ll dimple it and shorten the spacer a little. I did measure the spacer to the 17/32 as called for in the plans.
